Indulge your Cowboy Spirit with a New Mexico working guest ranch vacation, offering plenty of horseback riding,  horsemanship clinics, cattle work, spectacular New Mexico vistas and  the undiluted, real sensations of ranch life in southwestern New Mexico. Unlike many dude ranches or guest ranches, Double E Guest Ranch is a working cattle and horse ranch.  We breed and raise our own cattle and horses and  encourage our guests to participate in the day to day activities on the ranch. Get yourself back in touch with a new set of priorities.  Spend your days  with the Wranglers and Cowboys who live the cowboy life and work at Double E Ranch

Situated along the southwestern edge of the Gila Wilderness,  the Double E Guest Ranch proudly boasts some of the  most spectacular riding vistas in the southwest! This country is breathtakingly scenic, rugged, remote and pristine - and the best way to see it is from the back of a good horse.  Tough, seasoned ranch horses in excellent condition will take you trail riding or rounding up cattle; searching for Indian Ruins or traveling the trails of outlaws and gunfighters.   Please - don't expect a jacuzzi or pool --  leave yer swimmin' gear at home!  We're a working cattle and horse ranch and if you enjoy getting your hands dirty, your boots muddy, and your bottom sore by saddling up and working with the cowboys, you'll love it at Double E Ranch!  We encourage our guests to take advantage of every opportunity to get involved in our daily ranch routine.   If you are wanting to learn new skills, improve old ones and experience first-hand what it takes to ranch and raise cattle as they did "in the day", then why not join us!   We aren't the biggest but we think we're the best -- and your experience with Double E Ranch can change your life!

Ride the trails of the Apache, feel nature up close and explore a ranch vacation paradise exceptionally beautiful, filled with abundant wildlife and rich in  the history of  southwest New Mexico.  Located  in the heart of Apache country,  30 miles northwest of historic Silver City,  the Double E Guest Ranch and surrounding territory is the home of Billy the Kid, Geronimo, Judge Roy Bean,  "Dangerous" Dan Tucker and Ben Lilly.  The 3.3 million acre Gila (HEE-la) National Forest and pristine Gila Wilderness surround us on two sides! A working New Mexico cattle and horse ranch consisting of nearly  30,000 acres, the Double E  Ranch offers mild year round climate,  provides endless opportunities to enjoy horseback riding  in every season!

Double E  Ranch works very hard to  keep our rates reasonable. However, due to the ever-rising cost of fuel and livestock feed, this year it has become necessary to increase them slightly.  Our guest capacity is small - and we intend to keep the guest maximum  14 or less, providing plenty of opportunities for our Staff to give you individual attention and instruction.   Whether you are a horse owner who rides every day or a "city slicker dude" riding only a few times during the year, if you are interested in improving your horsemanship skill level, Double E Ranch can help. It's hands on, sleeves up, seat  in the  saddle!  Regardless of your riding level, we offer activities for everyone and  they include (but are not limited to) grooming and tacking horses, feeding livestock, team penning, roping, barrels, cattle work, colt starting or any combination of gentle or more challenging horseback riding.  You'll participate each day in the conditioning and training of our horses by riding them.  Learn round pen techniques, if you've got an interest.  At the end of the day, pull up a rocking chair, sit back and unwind.  That's the sum of the cowboy  experience here at Double E Ranch!  The atmosphere  is casual and relaxed. Our facilities are rustic but very comfortable.  We strive to make you feel like "family".  But, like family, please don't expect to be waited on. You are part of the Double E Crew.  Our guests  lend a hand, get involved, participate - they get dirty!  Tell us what your interests are and we'll try to incorporate them into your visit.

While it is occasionally necessary, we make every effort to avoid 'nose to tail' trail riding at Double  E Ranch! We prefer horseback riding the way it was intended to be, in country that can only be experienced from the back of a good horse.  At 5000' elevation, and with daytime temperatures ranging from 48 degrees in the winter months to 98 degrees in warmest summer months, four mild New Mexico seasons make outdoor horseback adventures possible year 'round.  New Mexico truly is the "Land of  Enchantment"!

Gila Wilderness Rides:  For those desiring to surround themselves with the beauty of this rugged landscape, we'll take you on gentle, seasoned horses through rugged, pristine canyons and mountains lying within the magnificent  Bear Creek and Greenwood Canyon drainage systems, along the western edge of the legendary Gila Wilderness in southwest New Mexico.  Wildlife is abundant.  The geological formations are astonishing.  Owners Alan and Debbie Eggleston feel they have the very best that southwestern New Mexico has to offer and they are  excited to be able to share it with you!

The American West holds a special place in the hearts of millions all over the world. Being a cowboy isn't just about what  you wear, how you walk or what kind of horse you ride.  Being "Cowboy" is a state of mind and heart, where the West is still alive and doing very well. We are extremely proud to be doing our part to preserve  our country's Ranching Tradition.  We work daily caring for it.  We're pleased to give folks like you an opportunity to share this experience with us, welcome you into our "home".   Honored to have been featured in several national magazine and newspaper publications over the past eleven years, we invite you to take a moment, read a few of these articles.

Why not join us!  From nearly any evening vantage point at Double E Ranch you can watch  the mountains and cliffs  gradually turn from yellow, to orange, to startling red in the light of the setting sun.  In every season, you'll share good company, breathtaking vistas, exciting horseback rides on seasoned horses, satisfying meals, and the Milky Way spread across the  New Mexico night sky!  It just doesn't get any better than this!

Join us in our corner of the world...it's pretty amazing!  We hope we have tempted you to come visit ... watch some New Mexico sunsets ... and ride your dreams!
