Finding a reliable shooting horse is sometimes difficult,
especially if you don't have access to training facilities,
and a steady supply of sound, solid horses. Double E
Ranch has several shooting horses ready to go and many under
training. Let us know what you might be looking for,
and if we don't have it, we'll help you find it! Our
new website,
RanchGeldings.Com
lists several solid horse options!
Have you ever watched an
old Western movie and marveled as the hero galloped his
horse across the screen with reins in one hand, firing off
shots left and right? Ever wished you could try it? If the
romance and excitement of the Old West are calling, then
Cowboy Mounted Shooting might be just the sport for you!
Cowboy Mounted Shooting has
become one of the fastest growing equestrian sports in the country.
Blending such disciplines as reining, barrel racing, and
horsemanship, the sport of mounted shooting requires teamwork
between rider and horse. Using two .45 caliber revolvers and blank
ammunition, the rider must be able to accurately shoot 10 balloon
targets set in one of 75 different patterns while controlling his
horses' speed and direction. Participants must dress in clothing
replicating the 1880's, making this a thrilling sport for
spectators, as well!
Double E Guest Ranch is excited
to announce that we will be offering Cowboy Mounted Shooting
Clinics throughout the winter and spring months. Led by Ranch
Owner Alan Eggleston, Clinic participants will receive personal
instruction and plenty of experience in such areas as basic gun and
horse safety, horsemanship, course and shooting techniques, training
your own horse to shoot, and clothing requirements.
Mild
year-round weather, excellent arena facilities and cozy, private
cabin accommodations will ensure each participants' comfort. Double
E Ranch will provide safe shooting horses, .45 caliber revolvers,
blank ammunition, professional timing and course equipment. Quality
shooting horses, period clothing, and gun rigs are available for
sale at the Ranch. Clinic participants can also arrange to
bring their own horse and tack for training by speaking with Alan
Eggleston in advance.
The Ranch will accommodate your
personal scheduling requirements as often as possible. Clinics are
designed for individuals and small groups; special rates for groups
of 8 or more are also available. Travel by air is easily managed by
flying into Albuquerque and making connections on Mesa Airlines into
Silver City, New Mexico where Ranch Staff will pick you up.

accommodations and 3 delicious meals daily. New Mexico
State Tax and 15% gratuity will be added at the time of booking.
