Taking the Reins...Filled with confidence and self
reliance, you are determined now to continue your journey! You've
been inspired with the teachings of professionals and are daring enough
to take the next step!
In this gals-only week,
you'll take your skills in riding and cow work to new heights! Our
Wranglers will be working with you on
advanced horsemanship skills, as well as on
handling, herding, doctoring and ropin' cattle.
We'll occasionally have a
guest "cowgirl" instructor on hand who will also offer assistance in
Natural Horsemanship, groundwork, round pen technique, or barrels
for any cowgirls who would like to learn more about those
important skills. You will improve every component of good horsemanship: balance, posture, soft
hands, comfortable seat...confidence! From round pens to roundups, Advanced
Cowgirl Camp is sure to inspire and instruct you as you take your
Western experience to the next level!

Silver City or taking the El Paso Shuttle, Ranch
Staff will pick you up at
4:30 p.m. at either the airport or the shuttle drop-off. Please be
aware that the arrival time may vary.
It's up to you to reconfirm your arrival/departure times and advise the

Day 2...
Monday - Natural Horsemanship for the Advanced Rider |
|
|
Natural
Horsemanship for the Advanced Rider. RJ Hobbs will spend the morning in
the arena with you teaching you to ride bareback, do roll backs, side passing, 2-tracking, turning
on the hocks, lead
changes, flying lead changes and backing up. Natural
Horsemanship is a
concept combining both ancient and new ideas, used by horse trainers and
clinicians around the world to enforce the desired
behavior of
horses.
It's all about communicating with your horse in a patient, confident
relaxed manner.
We'll teach you the techniques and cues to successfully accomplish
this. If
you have specific issues you want to address, now is the time to bring
them up. After lunch, you'll take a leisurely ride along the creek.
It's a great way to begin the week! |
|
|
|
|
|
Day 3 ... Tuesday -
Team Penning and Barrel Racing! |
|
|

In the morning session, you'll have the
opportunity to increase your knowledge base in the technical skills of
barrel racing. After lunch, you'll
saddle up to do some competitive team penning, finishing up with a
short ride. |
|
|
|
|
Day 4 ... Wednesday -
Reining, Cutting, Fence Work! |
|
|
Western
riding was born around cattle and the
history of the unique working cow horse extends back hundreds of years.
Learning is exciting and challenging! Reined Cow Horse (or working
cow horse) consists of
three events: herd work, rein work, and work with a single steer "down
the fence," typically called cow work. You'll have a chance to try
it all! |
|
|
|
|
|
Day 5 ... Thursday - All Day Cattle Work |
|
|
We'll
pack you a lunch for an full day spent riding the ranch, looking for,
moving or working whatever cattle you find. We know you'll have
lots of opportunity to implement your newly learned skills. |
|
|
|
|
|
Day 6 ... Friday - Cowboy Mounted Shooting! |
|
|
 Have
you ever watched an old Western movie and marveled as the hero
galloped his horse across the screen with reins in one hand, firing
off shots left and right? Double
E Ranch owner Alan Eggleston will be instructing you in such areas as
basic gun and horse safety, course and shooting techniques,
pattern technique, developing team work between you and your horse
and period clothing requirements. Alan is a CMSA Top Ten World
Champion. |
|
|
|
|
|
Day 7 ... Depart the Ranch |
|
|
After
breakfast, make sure you have all the contact information for the new
friendships you have formed this week. Some of you will leave after
breakfast. If you are flying from Silver City,
Ranch Staff will be ready to leave the Ranch at 6:15 a.m. to get you to
the El Paso Shuttle pick up location or the Silver City Airport. Please remember to
reconfirm your arrival/departure times with both the Air Line or the
Shuttle. Due to elevated airport security, we will not make any
assumptions -- and neither should you! Advise the Ranch Office
once you reconfirm. There is no riding on Saturday afternoon or Sunday. |

have spent their lives earning a living at ranching.
They will patiently and quietly help you accomplish as many of your new
goals as possible during your 5 day Cowgirl Camp experience.

The rate for Advanced
Cowgirl Camp is: $1250 per person,
Sunday evening arrival to Saturday morning departure,
accommodations, meals, mounted shooting, all cattle and ranch activities
and airport or shuttle pick up/drop off.

Your Accommodations
Cabins:
Your accommodations are private, comfortable and complete with
refrigerator, coffee maker, and micro wave oven; thick towels, and comforters. Most have
decks with rocking chairs for relaxing. If there is something you
don't see in your cabin, let us know! We keep them stocked with
coffee, tea, creamer, sugar and sweetener. Please be aware that
you will not have daily maid service or trash pick up. You must
let us know that your trash needs to be removed. We are happy to
take care of
it for you.
Meals: Meals
are served "family style" at Headquarters and will be hosted
by a Double E Ranch Staff Member. We serve home-style
American and Mexican-style meals. Breakfast generally consists of any
combination of pancakes, eggs, bacon, breakfast burritos, French Toast, cereal, juice,
and coffee. Lunch can be anything from casserole dishes to
cold cut sandwiches or burritos. Dinner is pretty standard and will include
beef, chicken or pasta, vegetables, salads, breads and dessert. We
happily try to accommodate most dietary needs, however, our Cook is not
a dietitian and we don't claim to offer "gourmet" food.
Please be responsible for your dietary requirements. Remind
us, on your arrival, if there is something out of the ordinary we need
to be aware of.
Horses:
Our horses are
generally gentle, trust-worthy, willing. However, you're dealing
with a living, breathing animal who sometimes has a mind of its own. Your horse and saddle will be
selected especially for you by one of our Staff, based on the horseback riding skill level
you have indicated and displayed. However, your comfort is
our priority. Let us know if the "fit" isn't right. If we
don't know there is a problem, we can't begin to correct it!
Each one of our saddle horses is different, with
unique personalities and abilities. If you're not getting
along with your horse, tell one of our Staff. We want you to be
comfortable.
Safety:
Your safety will always be our Number One Priority. With any
horseback activity there are risks. Working around any large
animal and riding
horses belonging to someone else is very different than riding your own.
If we feel you are doing something potentially dangerous to you or your
horse, we will tell you - and we'll make certain you hear us. If
we shout to be heard over other noise, don't take offense. We
simply don't want you hurt! It's always about your safety!
Always be aware there are inherent risks when horseback riding.
Pay attention and report problems to a Staff member.
It'll
be challenging and fun. It's a great week, filled with new
adventures and new friendships! You've achieved your goals, gained
confidence and poise on horseback and developed new skills. You're
empowered and energized! Now you know it for sure - there isn't anything you can't
do!!
