Cowboy Mounted Shooting Clinics

Cowboy Mounted Shooting has become one of the fastest growing equestrian sports in the country. Blending such disciplines as reining, barrel racing, and horsemanship, the sport of mounted shooting requires teamwork between rider and horse. 

Double E Guest Ranch is excited to announce that we will be offering Cowboy Mounted Shooting Clinics throughout the 2006 mounted shooting season. Led by Ranch Owner Alan Eggleston, Clinic participants will receive personal instruction and plenty of experience in such areas as basic gun and  horse safety, horsemanship, course and shooting techniques, training your own horse to shoot, developing team work between you and your horse and period clothing requirements.

Mild year-round New Mexico weather, excellent arena facilities and cozy, private cabin accommodations will ensure each participants' comfort. Double E Ranch will provide safe shooting horses, .45 caliber revolvers, blank ammunition, professional timing and course equipment. Quality shooting horses are also available for sale at the Ranch.  JS Saddlery is our source for custom period saddles, shooting holsters, gun rigs, belts and other mounted shooting leather items.  Owned and operated by James and Mona Sturgeon, they always produce quality products and they guarantee their work.  Clinic participants can also arrange to bring their own horse and tack for training by speaking with Alan Eggleston in advance.

Realizing your time restraints, the Ranch will do it's best to accommodate your personal scheduling requirements as often as possible. The Ranch provides comfortable, completely furnished cabins during your visit.  Each cabin is private and complete with queen sized bed, full bathroom, micro-wave, coffee maker, refrigerator.

Shooting Clinics rate:  $650 per person for 4 days/3 nights, including private, cabin accommodations and 3 delicious meals daily.   New Mexico State Tax and 15% gratuity will be added at the time of booking.  Add a few nights at the ranch and enjoy some of New Mexico's breathtaking vistas.  Rides are challenging, scenic and you might even be able to help us gather a few cows!  Additional nights at the ranch are easily added to your stay.
